SXSW

While Chicken & Egg Pictures has only supported a few narrative projects (A Drop of Life and The Toe Tactic) we know that fiction and hybrids of fiction/non-fiction are critical ways to explore and call for social, economic and environmental justice. Although we do not have the capacity to be able to support features at this time, we want Chicken & Egg Pictures to be responsive and able to follow our gut intuition, even if it is in small, symbolic and yet strategic. Thus, we created “The Emergent Woman Narrative Directing Award” at the 2009 SXSW Film Festival. This was the first time SXSW has presented an award specifically earmarked for a woman director, in any genre.

The SXSW/Chicken & Egg Award for an Emergent Woman Narrative director went to Judi Krant for her film (and comedy to boot) Made in China.
