Witness all the melodrama behind-the-scenes of a unique, annual mom-and-pop film festival held in a struggling, all-white, small town in South Dakota! The story follows Festival organizers, Richard and Alis -- two ambitious, stubborn local outsiders determined to shake things up on the Prairie; but perhaps a bit too hard, especially when a benefactor Jerry, gets added to the mix. From historical reenactments to heated debates to “corporate” take-over, it’s an everything-goes event dedicated to their most famous native son -- early 1900s controversial black film pioneer, Oscar Micheaux. Coined the “Godfather of Independent Cinema”, the prolific Micheaux is largely forgotten... However, visitors be forewarned, the restless spirit of Oscar has come back ‘home’ to ignite a conversation across our country's tricky racial and economic divide.
