My Perestroika
MY PERESTROIKA had its World Premiere at The Sundance Film Festival in January 2010 in the US Documentary Competition. The film was selected for New Directors/New Films at MoMA and Lincoln Center in NYC and has won various awards including the Filmmaker Award at Full Frame Documentary Film Festival and a Special Jury Award at AFI Discovery Silverdocs Film Festival. In August 2010, the film participated in IDA DocuWeeks’ Theatrical Showcase at the IFC Center in NY and the ArcLight in LA. It continues to play the festival circuit, including the Doha Tribeca Film Festival and Sheffield Doc/Fest and will have its broadcast premiere on PBS’s award-winning POV series in 2011, in conjunction with the 20th anniversary of the coup that led to the collapse of the USSR. The filmmakers are currently raising funds for an audience engagement campaign.

MY PERESTROIKA follows five ordinary Russians living in extraordinary times — from their sheltered Soviet childhood, to the collapse of the Soviet Union during their teenage years, to the constantly shifting political landscape of post-Soviet Russia. Together, these childhood classmates paint a complex picture of the dreams and disillusionments of those raised behind the Iron Curtain.
