Wendy Ettinger
Wendy Ettinger is an award winning producer, director and casting director. Her first documentary, The War Room, directed by Chris Hegedus and D.A. Pennebaker was nominated for an Academy Award, won the D.W. Griffith for Best Documentary by the National Board of Review and the Audience Award at the Berlin Film Festival. Their second collaboration, Moon Over Broadway, was cited as Best Documentary of the year and aired on Bravo. Ms. Ettinger's first feature film, Eye of God, directed by Tim Blake Nelson, premiered at Sundance, and garnered the American Independent Award. Baby I’m Yours, her directorial debut, aired on The Oxygen Network and was featured on Oprah. Ms. Ettinger served as Consulting Producer on Al Franken: God Spoke, directed by Chris Hegedus and Nick Doob, executive produced by D.A. Pennebaker. The film premiered at South by Southwest and The Tribeca Film Festival to critical acclaim. Her film, Hotel Gramercy Park, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival where it received a Jury Citation and aired on the Sundance Channel. Return of the War Room, produced with the War Room team also aired on the Sundance Channel the same year.
In 2005 she creatively combined her interests with fellow female filmmakers Judith Helfand and Julie Parker Benello, by co-founding Chicken & Egg Pictures. Chicken & Egg Pics is a hybrid film fund and non –profit production company for women filmmakers who combine great story telling with social justice issues. As well as providing grants, Chicken & Egg also Executive Produces select projects including Pushing The Elephant, a story that captures one of the most important stories of our age; when genocidal violence is challenged by the moral fortitude and profits. Wendy has also served on the boards for Working Films, which combines non-fiction film with cutting edge activism, and The 52nd Street Project, offering inner city kids the opportunity to create original theater with professionals. In 2006 she received the Mike Mendelsohn Award and this year Chicken & Egg Pictures is the recipient of the Loreen Arbus Award from New York Women in Film and Television, honoring Those Who Take Action and Effect Change, through making a significant contribution to promoting the advancement of women in the entertainment industry.
